Dr. Alexandra Amaro

University College Dublin 2017

Hi I’m Dr. Amaro,

I grew up in the Etobicoke-Mississauga area, and I am happy to be back in the country working near my family and friends! I attended McMaster University for my undergraduate degree, and moved to Ireland for my veterinary degree at University College Dublin.

Growing up I had a wide variety of pets, including: Roxy (golden retriever mix), Puszysty (long-haired dachshund), Charlotte and Isabella (domestic short hairs), Remy and Emil (hamsters). Roxy was a street dog found by my uncle as a puppy, and Puszysty was adopted from the Humane Society. My family always brought in animals in need, and I had trouble saying no to their cute faces! I believe that my family has been the inspiration for me wanting the best for all animals, as my commitment to help animals in need began as a child.

Currently, I own a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Watson who hates to leave my side. In my spare time I enjoy golfing, horseback riding, and snowboarding. I am excited to start my career in the company of such a devoted veterinary team. I am looking forward to meeting you in the exam room!
